Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa
I caught Dweezil Zappa’s incredible show, “Zappa plays Zappa” at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street in Boston last night.
Frank Zappa was a mad musical genius, a legendary guitarist, a star-brother from another galaxy. I could be lazy and use the cliché “he was ahead of his time” to describe FZ, but in our time we’ll never catch up to him. Zappa’s songs are operatic in their scope; incredibly complex and satisfying both musically and lyrically, a feast for the ears and the brain. Best of all, Zappa’s music is also wildly funny.
There is no one better to play and honor Zappa’s music than his son Dweezil and his multi-talented band.
