Day 5: O Pino
Parts of the Camino feel worn down by centuries of walking feet. There are walls that rise up on either side of the path, and can get quite high. The air gets very still, and the light dims. Trees grow on top of these walls…
I found this note on the side of the path early in the morning on our way to O Pino:
We passed this couple selling handmade leather bags and jewelry and bought things from them – so much nicer than the airport gift shop…
And we walked by this man selling hand carved walking sticks for suggested donations…I was tempted but thought of the airport again, and the potential hassles of checking in with a big wooden stick.
For the record, these are not dead mice houses – they are for storing grain, after all! Whew.
There are lots of animals dozing in the sun along the way, but mercifully, very few cars…
This guy enjoyed the wild fennel I picked for him from the side of the road.
We passed the Wall of Wisdom, and picked up some thoughts to ponder for the rest of our journey…
I’ll post some more of our adventures later today if I can swing it – otherwise stay tuned till tomorrow!
Hugs,
Jennifer
